minneapolis spaces that inspire

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of the city we call home. It is full of recreation, beauty, culture, amazing restaurants and so much more. Compiled here is a list of places we’ve recently found inspiring. We hope you check them out and find them as encouraging and energizing as we have.

  1. Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA)

Location: 2400 Third Avenue South Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404

Summary: A twin cities landmark for over 100 years, the Minneapolis Institute of Art hosts a huge permanent collection available to public viewing at no cost. Their programming and rotational exhibits keep us coming back each year and season. Current exhibits catching our attention are the British Watercolor Landscapes and Envisioning Evil both available until June 2022, as well as The Contemporary Print: Highpoint Editions which is only viewable until January.

While you’re there: Check out the MIA Store for a highly curated selection of local and thoughtfully created gifts.

2. Rosalia Pizza

Location: 2811 W 43rd St, Minneapolis, MN 55410

Summary: Tucked into the former Rose Street Patisserie in Linden Hills, Daniel del Prado’s pizza-focused restaurant is a gem in experience and flavor. The indoor space is made to feel much larger than it really is with double-height space, large expanses of glass and a simple material palette full of contrast. We’ll definitely be coming here as the seasons get colder for a brief escape in the pizza and plant-filled paradise.

While you’re there: Be sure to try at least one of their continually changing appetizers or cocktails.

3. Bell Museum

Location: 2088 Larpenteur Ave W, St Paul, MN 55113

Summary: The new museum on the edge of the University of Minnesota campus in St. Paul inspires visitors inside and out, both visually and intellectually. The many textures outside in the learning landscape and throughout the interior museum architecture provide something explore with each of your senses. Their in-person and virtual programming is inclusive to all ages, from daily planetarium, shows to sessions with University researchers and experts. The Museum Shop is a lesser-known spot to find great gifts for kids and nature enthusiasts.

While you’re there: Take some time in the upper-level galleries to look out from the exhibits and into the surrounding research fields and neighborhoods for a different perspective.

4. Forage Modern Workshop

Location: 4023 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406

While you’re there: Crack a smile at the witty greeting card or bumper sticker collection.

5. American Swedish Institute

Location: 2600 Park Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407

Summary: This historic mansion, built between 1904-1908, invites visitors to explore its many rooms and their unique attributes. The original woodwork and decorative plaster have been meticulously cared for and restored over the years, highlighting the work of master craftsmen. They also offer cooking, hand-crafting, and language classes that celebrate and teach about Swedish culture.

While you’re there: Observe the details of the 11 tile stoves, or kakelugnar, imported from Sweden that are located throughout the home.

6. Lakewood Cemetary Garden Mausoleum

Location: 3600 Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55408

7. Sooki & Mimi

Location: 3600 Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55408

While you’re there: Walk around back to enjoy a classic cocktail and melodies from the record player at the Basement Bar.

8. Northern Clay Center
